The Space Shuttle Approach and Landing Test (ALT) crews wore the standard AB Emblem embroidered mission emblems on their flight suits, thus there is no rare 'crew patch' for this mission.

Notes: The Lion Brothers ALT patch is one of the rarest of the Shuttle-era Lion Brothers patches and sells for significant sums. It can be recognized by the oversize US flag and bold "USA" lettering on the wings of the Shuttle, as well as the dark blue fill thread.
The patch exists in both bare cloth back and vacuum-sealed back versions.

Notes: This appears to be an AB Emblem patch but this particular example has a black outer border. This could be a prototype or just an error patch produced by someone loading a spool of black thread instead of gray when the border was added.

Type: Fully embroidered. Merowed border with tail.
Scarcity: Uncommon.
Value: Vintage examples sell for $10-$15.
Notes: The vintage version of the Swissartex ALT mission patch exists both with a waxy plastic backing and with a vacuum sealed clear plastic coating on the reverse. The fronts of the two versions are virtually identical.
